We offer a range of activities for boys and girls from walking to teenagers. Each activity is tailored to help the attending children benefit from an active lifestyle. Our carefully selected activities have been chosen to provide one of the most comprehensive lifestyle exercise programs available to children, incorporating strength, flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, power, and discipline.

RECREATIONAL GYMNASTICS
Recreational gymnastics, as its name suggests, caters to anyone from your little or big ones who are just starting out in the sport, to seasoned gymnasts who’d like to train without the pressure of competitions. In short, recreational gymnasts get to cement the fundamentals of the sport through classes, and can transfer the techniques and skills they’ve picked up to plenty of other sports later in life.
Recreational gymnastics is an excellent addition to any child’s healthy lifestyle. It’s a high intensity sport, burning calories and helping to gain muscle tone, flexibility and balance. The skills and developmental advances gained from doing gymnastics – even recreationally – will benefit them in any other sports they take part in, as well as in social situations and with discipline around schoolwork, etc.
At Flip n Fun we offer beginners recreational and intermediate recreational classes.
INTERMEDIATE & COMPETITIVE GYMNASTICS
Competitive/Professional gymnastics requires a high level of commitment – in terms of time, pressure and expectation. Places on a competitive squad are limited and are made by selection, so as much as you might have expectations as a parent or gymnast, there is also a level of expectation from your coaches and team members. Some competitive gymnasts start training at a young age, but we also see numerous children come into the sport later on and progressing well, because they are naturally athletic - and because they work very hard. There is a dedicated training programme they must adhere to, working closely with their coaches to hit certain milestones.
It is also not uncommon for children to move from recreational to competitive gymnastics over the course of their training when their coaches feel they’re ready for a greater level of commitment. However, it is still essential to know that the decision ultimately falls on the shoulders of the child, and we as parents should never rush into placing them into more intense programmes. These children will participate in regular competitions with the gym, as well as moving onto higher levels of international competitions.
HOMESCHOOLERS
While there is often no one better to teach your child than you or another family member who loves and understands them more than an educator with dozens of other students to be concerned with, there are some things that you may be well-equipped to provide. Physical education is of vital importance to children at all stages of their development, and one of the best forms of exercise to ensure healthy development is gymnastics.
Gymnastics is the perfect athletic pursuit for a child who is being home-schooled. It provides children of all ages with opportunities to improve their dexterity, build confidence with their growing and changing bodies, increase their flexibility, and lay the foundations of a strong and sustainable physique that will improve their physicality without long-term health complications that can be caused by immersion in other common athletic pastimes.
These classes run twice a week, a minimum number applies.
GYMNASTICS SKILLS
Occasionally gymnasts would like to focus on learning one specific skill, this is absolutely possible at Flip n Fun. Whether it’s a backflip, splits or a cartwheel, we have you covered. Anyone above the age of 6 can choose a skill they’d like to learn and register for a 4-week course.
This is a fantastic option for athletes of other sports to come and learn a new move that will complement their specialized sport.
At Flip n Fun we use a range of tools to ensure the athlete’s safety while using the latest techniques in training.
SPECIAL NEEDS
Gymnastics is a sport that provides an enriching environment filled with opportunities for sharpening the mind by stimulating the brain, fostering social skills, and strengthening gross and fine motor skills, while providing children with special needs or learning difficulties an alternative method for learning and developing new skills.
Concentration or focus is required in each skill that is executed in the sport of gymnastics. Learning to focus in the gym can allow for increased attention to tasks outside of the sport of gymnastics.
These classes are 1-1 with a specialized coach, a meeting and assessment is held with parents before registration to better understand your child as well as create a tailor-made programme suited to the child’s needs.
